The print I received was the last image from the Lonely Lamb Series.

Shot at F/9.0 at 1/125th of a second at ISO 100.  Two lights used to illuminate the background set at F/11.0.  A beauty dish was used in front.

In a continuation of my series on movement I placed an ad on craigslist and had several people respond.  Kiri was the first of many to arrive.  She’s been trained in many forms of dance and is a professional dancer now.  I was truly blessed with being able to shot a woman with such grace and beauty and most importantly with a great sense of how her body was moving.  Everything was so elegant and amazing.  I hardly have any throw away frames from the day.  This one was my favorite though.

Kyle came to me through the same cragislist ad as Kiri.  I kept the same lighting setup to keep the images in this series fairly consistent.  There’s power and determination in this shot.  There’s also a hell of a lot of focus.  It’s a great counterpoint to the image of Kiri I think.

Charlotte is another member of the movement project I’ve been working.  She is a downhill skier.  She had beautiful images and great fun jumping in the studio.

The main light is set to F/7.1.  The background is on a 20degree grid on the background.  There’s also a rim set behind the model and off to the left set to F/7.1.  Important lesson here.  Make sure you check your camera BEFORE you shoot.  I shot this entire session and couldn’t figure out why my exposure was all over the place.  I had shot the day before and bracketed my shots and forgot to turn it off.  Thank god for RAW.

Anyway back to the point.  But right now Fashion photography is all about akward looking poses and extreme amounts of make up.  Flip through any Flaunt, Zink, etc and you’ll see dark images of girls with lots of dark make up in really akward poses.

Which led me to this image.  Is it fashion?  You tell me.  I shot this the day after:

Shot outdoors using only a 5-in-1 reflector and the sun.   It’s F5.6 and 1/250th of a second on my Nikon 85mm 1.8 lens.

To start it off I’ll post an image from a recent model shoot. AJ came to me with another model named Odessa. Several lighting setups and outfits later this image was created. It’s the second to last image taken on the day about 5 mins before they left. Goes to show you that you should keep shooting as you never know what you’re going to get.

Lighting wise. There’s a background light with a blue gel grid on the gray background on a floor stand set to full power. There’s a high silver lined beauty dish on the left of the shot and a giant white foam core v-flat on the right filling the shadow. To add a little punch a small softbox was aimed at the floor to give a little kick of light from the floor. Shot at F/5.6 + 1/3 on Flash WB at ISO 100 and 1/125th of a second shutter. In post the blue was brought up and color temperature was adjusted to 5100 and tint to -7. Clarity was brought up and a little contrast was added in addition to 1 point of black. A crop was applied and voila.
